Two Sri Lanka U-19 Cricketers Arrested for Secretly Filming in Hotel Bathroom
Two Sri Lanka Under-19 cricketers have been arrested on charges of using mobile phones to film individuals while they were bathing, during their stay at a hotel in Narahenpita, Colombo.
According to the details of the incident, several women staying at the hotel complained that they were being secretly filmed while in the bathroom. Based on these complaints, the Narahenpita police arrested the two accused cricketers. They were subsequently produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate's Court.
The court has granted both cricketers bail on a personal bond of LKR 500,000 (approximately USD 1,564). They are scheduled to appear in court again on May 25 for the next hearing of the case.
The Narahenpita police are currently investigating the matter with urgency. They are verifying whether any of the recorded videos have already been circulated online.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has yet to announce any formal disciplinary action regarding this unfortunate incident. The board is currently experiencing a period of instability. Administrative operations have slowed down following major changes over the past 48 hours, including the removal of the previous office bearers and the formation of a 'Transformation Committee'.
