Nahid Ranas First PSL Journey

Bangladesh young pacer Nahid Rana has grabbed attention right from his debut season in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Playing in the franchise tournament for the very first time, he not only proved his bowling ability but also created several unique records throughout the competition.

In the final match, the right-arm pacer delivered a brilliant spell, taking 2 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs. One of his overs was a maiden, in which he conceded no runs and picked up a crucial wicket. This was his second maiden over of the season, a feat no other bowler in this edition could achieve.

Overall, Nahid Rana finished the tournament with 9 wickets in 5 matches. He maintained an impressive average of 10.88 and an economy rate of 5.44, which is considered the best among bowlers who bowled at least 10 overs in this PSL season.

However, his campaign did not start smoothly. In his first match against Hyderabad, he went wicketless while conceding 30 runs. But he made a strong comeback in the very next game, producing a stunning spell against Karachi Kings where he took 3 wickets for just 7 runs, including 20 dot balls.

He continued his consistency in the following matches. Against Lahore Qalandars, he picked up 2 wickets for 15 runs, and he also claimed another 2 wickets against Multan Sultans, although his economy rate was slightly higher in that game.

After playing four matches, Nahid Rana had to return to Bangladesh for the series against New Zealand. Although the series ended later, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) initially decided not to send him back to the PSL. However, after Peshawar Zalmi reached the final, the franchise requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to bring him back for one match. That final game once again proved his value, as he delivered with the ball when it mattered most.
