Punjab Kings' Thriftiness in IPL 2025: Retained Only 2 Players
Punjab Kings has never lifted the trophy in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, this franchise has retained only 2 players ahead of the 2025 IPL.
The Punjab Kings have retained only two uncapped players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh. The cost to retain both players amounts to ₹9.5 crore.
To retain Shashank Singh, the Punjab Kings had to spend ₹5.5 crore, while Prabhsimran Singh cost them ₹4 crore.
After spending ₹9.5 crore on retention, the Punjab Kings have ₹110.5 crore remaining in their purse. They will have the benefit of four Right to Match (RTM) cards in the IPL auction.
Last year, the Punjab Kings did not consider retaining players like Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, and Kagiso Rabada, who were part of their squad.
With the highest purse of ₹110.5 crore, Punjab Kings will head into the IPL 2025 auction, where they need to assemble the entire squad, including a captain.
