Who are in the race to become Pakistan's vice-captain
Yesterday (April 9), Pakistan announced the squad for the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand. However, the deputy captain's name has not been disclosed by the selectors. Selector Wahab Riaz stated that they will quickly decide who will be the vice-captain for Pakistan's team in white-ball cricket.
Wahab Riaz also mentioned that there will be a rotation policy in place for the series against New Zealand, even the captain may get some rest.
According to Pakistani media sources, Multan Sultans' Mohammad Rizwan is leading the race to be appointed as the vice-captain alongside captain Babar Azam. Discussion is ongoing regarding the appointment, and some board officials are also considering Shadab Khan for the deputy captaincy. Under Shadab Khan's leadership, Islamabad United won their 3rd title in PSL last year. In Babar Azam's absence, he led the Pakistan T20I team.
However, it will be known after Eid who will be Babar's deputy in the end.
