Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has stated that the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is rapidly moving towards becoming the world’s top franchise league.

During a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors, he said that the PSL has now become one of the most attractive platforms for investment. The board also approved the audited financial statements for the 2024–25 fiscal year during the meeting.

“PSL has now become the best market for investment. Very soon, it will become the world’s number one league,” said Naqvi.

The board also welcomed the success of the record-breaking franchise auction for the 2026 season, which is being seen as a significant testament to the league’s commercial potential.

Meanwhile, Pakistani batter Fakhar Zaman has been handed a two-match suspension in the PSL due to a ball-tampering issue.

Sources said that during the match, complaints were raised from the Karachi Kings side to the fourth umpire and match referee from the 13th over onwards that Fakhar Zaman was doing something unusual with the ball. Subsequently, the match referee instructed the on-field umpires to closely monitor the situation.

Before the final over, umpire Faisal Afridi examined the ball and suspected it had been altered using an external object. The ball was then replaced, and the opposing team was awarded a five-run penalty.

An appeal against this decision was later rejected by the PSL’s Technical Committee, which stated that the on-field umpire and match referee had sufficient evidence to make the decision.

Due to the suspension, Fakhar Zaman missed the match for Lahore Qalandars against Multan Sultans and will also be unavailable for the match on April 9.
