Parvez Hossain Emon Smashes Fastest Fifty by a Bangladeshi in Recognized Cricket
Dhaka Premier League (DPL) resumed today after the Eid break, and Parvez Hossain Emon wasted no time making headlines. The Abahani Limited opener set a new record for the fastest fifty by a Bangladeshi batter in recognized cricket, reaching the milestone in just 15 balls against Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP.
Chasing a modest target of 89 runs, Abahani cruised to victory without losing a wicket in just 6.4 overs. Emon was the standout performer, remaining unbeaten on 61 runs off 23 balls, laced with 4 fours and 6 sixes. His partner Zishan Alam contributed 17 off 17 balls.
Emon’s innings started quietly with just 1 run off his first 4 deliveries. But then came the storm. He blasted 49 runs off the next 11 balls, including 4 consecutive sixes in the second over. In the fourth over, he sealed his record-breaking fifty with a flurry of boundaries – two fours and two sixes off the first four deliveries.
Earlier, Shinepukur Cricket Club were bowled out for just 88 runs in 25.4 overs after being sent in to bat. Mosaddek Hossain led the Abahani bowling attack with 4 wickets, while Rakibul Hasan and Ripon Mondol claimed 2 wickets each. Only three Shinepukur batters managed to reach double digits as their innings crumbled under pressure.
