Due to an injury, Josh Hazlewood will miss Australia’s three-match T20I series against Scotland. Riley Meredith has been called up as his replacement for the series. Cricket Australia hopes that Hazlewood will be fit for the series against England.
Last week, Hazlewood sustained a calf strain during practice, which will prevent him from participating in the T20I series against Scotland. Riley Meredith, who played five T20Is in 2021, has been added to the squad. Despite missing the Scotland series, selectors are hopeful that Hazlewood will be available for the T20Is and ODIs against England.
As a replacement, Meredith joins the Australian squad after taking eight T20I wickets in matches against New Zealand and the West Indies three years ago. For the Scotland series, the pace attack will include Meredith, Xavier Bartlett, Sean Abbott, and Nathan Ellis. All-rounders Cameron Green, Aaron Hardy, and Marcus Stoinis, along with captain Mitchell Marsh, will also contribute with the ball.
The Australian team will depart for Scotland on Monday, ahead of the first T20I in Edinburgh on September 4.
Australia's UK tour begins with the three-match T20I series against Scotland, scheduled from September 4-7. The tour also includes a three-match T20I series against England and a five-match ODI series.
