Dhoni Fined for Traffic Law Violation
Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been fined ₹1,000 in Ranchi for overspeeding. An e-challan was issued under Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act after the city’s automatic traffic monitoring system detected his vehicle exceeding the speed limit.
The minor traffic violation quickly drew attention on social media. Earlier, Dhoni had also made headlines when the Jharkhand State Housing Board served him a notice over allegations of using a residential plot for commercial purposes. Officials had expressed concern that the plot, originally allotted for residential use, might have been used for commercial activities.
Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2026 season, Dhoni has already begun net sessions with Chennai Super Kings. The five-time champions are preparing for a fresh start following a disappointing 2025 campaign.
At 44, Dhoni’s experience, tactical intelligence, and ability to control the team remain key strengths for Chennai Super Kings. Even off the field, his leadership continues to play an important role in boosting team morale and cohesion.
