After losing the first two matches and handing over the series, the Bangladesh women's cricket team managed to score 123 runs with the loss of 7 wickets in the third T20I. Ireland's Orla Prendergast starred with the ball, restricting the Tigresses to a low total. To complete a whitewash, Ireland needs to chase down a target of 124 runs.
On Monday, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh, led by Nigar Sultana, lost the toss and batted first. The opening pair of Murshida Khatun and Sobhana Mostari provided a solid start with a 33-run partnership off 24 balls. They scored 49 runs in the powerplay.
However, Murshida was dismissed for 12 runs, and the second-wicket partnership between Sobhana and Sharmin Akter added 71 runs from 58 balls. Sharmin scored 34 runs off 33 balls, including 4 boundaries, before being stumped off Amy Hunter’s delivery.
Sobhana, caught LBW for 45 runs, was dismissed just short of a half-century. After her departure, the run rate slowed down, and the Tigresses only managed 29 runs in the last 8 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Although Bangladesh aimed for a big total early on, the Irish bowlers' impressive performance restricted them to just 123 runs.
Orla Prendergast was the standout bowler for Ireland, claiming 4 wickets, while Amy Hunter took 2 wickets.
